PYUPLE LAUNCHES NEW COLLEGE SOCIAL NETWORK

Pyuple Offers College Students What Facebook Gave Up

FOSTER CITY, Calif., March 3, 2008 – Pyuple (www.pyuple.com) officially launches its college social network in public beta. Pyuple founder and CEO, David Yahya, developed Pyuple as a college-based online community to allow students, faculty, staff and alumni to network, communicate and collaborate with one another. Each member gets a customizable profile modeled after MySpace’s profile layout and each school gets a customizable site called a “Pyuple Space” which serves as the school’s online community. Students can also create customizable groups which are linked to their school’s Pyuple Space.

As a social network that caters to college students, Pyuple sees itself as providing a service similar to what Facebook gave up before it opened its doors to the general public. Unlike Facebook, however, Pyuple doesn’t require users to have a dot edu email address to accommodate the vast majority of colleges that don’t offer them to their students. In addition, Pyuple allows students to search for courses across multiple schools using a service powered by another startup called Courseopedia (www.courseopedia.com).

For teachers, Pyuple offers tools including a course management system to teach both online and in-class courses and a faculty website builder that allows teachers to easily create their websites by simply filling out web forms directly online.

School administrators can also benefit from Pyuple by getting access to manage their school’s Pyuple Space. Rather than install or build their own network, schools can simply use their Pyuple Space as their school’s online community.

Pyuple’s goal is to connect all college students, faculty, staff and alumni to facilitate inter-class and school communication, networking and collaboration by building the world’s largest network of online school communities. Currently, Pyuple has launched “Pyuple Spaces” for colleges in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be adding more colleges periodically and upon user request.
